Keith Hawkins
Keith Hawkins, an Ohio native, is currently an Assistant Professor of Astronomy at UT Austin. He received a B.S. in Astrophysics (with minors in Mathematics and African Studies) from Ohio University's Honors Tutorial College in 2013. He then went on to complete a Ph.D. between 2013-2016 at the Institute of Astronomy in Cambridge UK , under a Marshall Scholarship and a King’s College Cambridge Studentship. During that time, he primarily worked with Prof. Gerry Gilmore and Prof. Paula Jofre on his dissertation entitled "Dissecting the Milky Way with Spectroscopic Studies". After completing the PhD in 2 years and 7 months, he became a postdoctoral fellowship as a Simons Junior Research Fellow at Columbia University in the city of New York between 2016-18. He began a faculty position at UT Austin in Fall 2018, where he has been growing a group in Galactic Archaeology, the study of the formation and assembly of our Milky Way Galaxy.
