2021 Black In Astro Undergraduate Research Competition

Information: Black In Astro is sponsoring the first ever undergraduate research competition for undergraduate members of Black In Astro. Undergraduates of all levels are encouraged to apply and participate. We welcome participants from astronomy, planetary sciences, space policy, astrobiology, astrochemistry, aerospace & aeronautics engineering etc! The research competition will be available for the general public to watch as a webinar and the general public will be able to ask questions to participants.

Rules & Regulations:

  • The time limit for presentations is 5 mins + 2 minutes for Q & A - anything over this time will be penalized

  • Presenters should aim to explain their science to a general array of judges as graduate student judges will be from astronomy, planetary science, aerospace fields alike

  • Deadline to register for the competition is November 8th 2021

  • You must upload your talk by November 14th 2021 by 5:00 pm EST

Prizes:

  • 1st place: $600.00 USD

  • 2nd place: $400.00 USD

  • 3rd place: $200.00 USD

The 2021 Black In Astro undergraduate research competition will be held November 17 2021 from 12pm - 3pm EST, and will include prizes for the top 3 winners of the competition. To be eligible to compete in the competition, please fill out the Qualtrics survey below to register
